Basic Cleaning
Hard to Remove Surface Dirt
Mold or "Cancer"
Tail Rust
So Soft Ponies
Sea Ponies
Ink Removal
Hair Care

Basic Cleaning: It’s good to start off with good old soap and water, and a toothbrush. You need to get off as much easy to remove surface dirt as possible. If there are more marks, spots, or dirt left, then you get out the heavy duty stuff. Rinse pony off while holding the pony upside down, and try not to get any water in her tail hole, water in the pony will lead to mold.

Surface Dirt: Try using a Magic Clean Magic Eraser Pads, you can find this in your Walmart, Target, or Grocery store. If that doesn’t do it, I use Sunlight Dish Washer Detergent Gel with mild Bleach in it. Leave sit on pony for an hour or more. You can also try the Colgate Whitening Tooth Paste, it’s great for scrubbing and has whitener in it. Be sure to rinse it off tho. And Please Don't scrub anything with glitter, as you may remove the glitter!

Mold/Cancer: Your pony has mold if there is 1. visable discoloration 2. Weird black spots 3. spots with a ring around them 4. you hold her up to the light and there seems to be something inside here.
First you must remove the head with and exacto or craft knife, a new one is best, then slowly cut around the ponies glue line, try pulling here and there to get the glue off without cutting. Then check out her insides, if it's indeed mold, start with soap, water, and a tooth brush.
Oxi-Clean is great and less drying and yellowing than bleach. Some people say you need hot water to do this, but it's up to you, I use warm water myself. IF you boil your pony, please first remove the Head, and using something, not your hand, to hold the pony in the water, tongues are good, but don't let her touch the bottom or sides of the pot! She'll be forever melted. And DON’T use hot water on So Soft Ponies, you very well may remove the Flocking. And it's not a good idea to use hot water on ponies with Glitter.
No more gunk inside her? Good! If you still have brown or black spots, try using Acitone or Nail Polish Remover on a Q-Tip and rub the spot inside and out if possible. BUT REMEMBER Don't get the nail polish removing on anything painted like eyes or symbols, DO NOT USE on Glitter, DO NOT USE on So Softs. After time the Nail Polish will fade of not remove the pin dot mold or cancer.

Tail Rust: It can be treated without removing the tail if you put tooth paste on the source of the discoloration of the hair and leave sit for a few hours or days. But in my opinion, if it's got rust showing on the outside, it's got Rust A Growing on the inside. So it's time to Pop Off That Head and get Pulling! Yes grab your pliers (or if you're like me, your hubby's!) and pull the tail out. Remove the washer and throw it out. Then shampoo that tail hair and use some whitening tooth paste on it, or some Oxi-clean. Then you can either buy a new washer from some where like Home Depot or Rubber band if you're not planning on brushing her tail really hard. Put her head back on and you're good :)

So Soft Ponies: soap and cold water is good. Don’t scrub hard! You’ll take her flocking off. I found that for really, really dirty So Softs, Oxi-Clean works wonders. But don’t use hot water! You’ll take her flocking off. Try warm or even cold water and a good soak for a day or more as needed. You may need to treat her more than once, but it really is good for keeping the flocking. Afterwards a good all over conditioner treatment is good, cause the Oxi-Clean will dry out the hair and the flocking. Tip: Conditioner Makes the Flocking Super Shiny and Soft!

Sea Ponies: Sea Pony are most likely to have mold as they were mean to go in water and have small holes in their heads for water to go in and drain out. So let's start by Removing the sea ponies head, much the same as the way we remove a regular pony's head. If there's mold, the normal cleaning applies. Make sure you leave the pony without it's head for a day or so before putting it back on and giving it a good all over scrub down.

Ink Removal: Dishwasher Detergent with a mild bleaching agent in it helps, leave sit for hours, or days, as needed. You can also use nail polish remover, but be forewarned, it removes paint, and symbols, ruin the sparkle eyed ponies eyes, and may damage the shiny gloss coating on your ponies! It’s best to try the most mild of things before you try anything harsh.

Hair Care: Wash with any shampoo, I usually use whatever's in the house. And for dry hair, and easy styling, use Conditioner, rinse, set, and dry! If you've got tinsel trouble, or problems with the frizz, check out the style section, and for more styling tips check out the style tips at the top of the page.
